Truthfully, I prefer vintage holiday decor over newer holiday decor items. Vintage holiday items are definitely the backbone of our Christmas decor. However, every year, I like to supplement it with some newer items. It’s always fun to balance old and new. Not to mention, that there is some fabulous new holiday decor that compliments vintage Christmas decor.
In this post I will share 4 holiday finds that are practical, pretty, affordable and that still compliment vintage items. Our holiday theme this year is “Winter Whites with Vintage Metallics”, which was largely driven by my love of vintage mercury glass ornaments. Our holiday theme also influenced my selection of the 4 items I am sharing with you today.
So without further delay, let’s jump in!

Holiday Finds
Target has to be one of my favorite places to shop for home decor inspiration and for finding some great deals. The only problem is that they sell out of their merchandise really fast. (Ridiculously fast) I am sharing these items with you early in the season in the HOPES that these items will still be available. If you like one of these items, don’t wait. They won’t last long.
1. Santa Mugs

Now you know I love Santa Mugs! In fact, last year, I wrote an entire post on how to identify Vintage Santa Mugs. These little mugs shown above are part of my vintage Santa mug collection. However, I don’t feel comfortable using these vintage Santa mugs for drinking my morning coffee. So, I always keep my eye out for some newer Santa mugs that I can use. Preferably mugs that are dishwasher and microwave safe.

These Santa mugs are a generous size with a roomy handle and were about $5 each from Target. Like I said, run, don’t walk to Target! These are fun to use for hot beverages for the entire month of December.
2. Santa Hand Towels

As I was heading to the check out stand at Target, I took the long route, and started walking through the bedding and bath section where I stumbled upon these cute Santa hand towels. The little pom pom at the end of Santa’s hat is embroidered into the towel.
We are always having family and friends over during the Christmas season so I couldn’t resist buying a few for our guest bathroom, and at $5 each they were a great price. Another bonus, they are easy to store away at the end of the season.
3. Tinsel Christmas Ball Ornaments

Remember when I shared that Christmas theme this year would be “Winter whites and Vintage Metallics”? Well, I couldn’t pass up these shatter proof metallic ornaments. In a house with two dogs and where we have young children who visit, we need ornaments that are shatter proof. We also need ornaments that will compliment our collection of vintage mercury glass ornaments.

These ornaments from Target were perfect! Their generous size of 4 inches in diameter is a bonus given that they were only $15 per box.
Gold Flatware

Continuing with the metallic theme for Christmas, I couldn’t pass up this brush gold flatware from Amazon. Each set comes with enough cutlery for 4 people and is $22. This flatware is also available in some other finishes including brushed silver, rose gold and flat black.
This flatware is dishwasher safe and has a nice balance of weight. It’s perfect for elevating your holiday meals.
