A Simple Coastal Cottage Inspired Christmas
This article shares inspiration for simple coastal cottage inspired Christmas using garland, small trees and a wreath from King of Christmas.
Although we are in the middle of summer, Christmas isn’t that far away. In this post, I have collaborated with King of Christmas to share some of my favorite holiday decor items. Given we are at the height of summer and that I have been spending time on sandy beaches, the theme for this Christmas in July post is “A Simple Coastal Cottage Inspired Christmas”.

Back story
Nothing restores my soul and gives me a sense of wellbeing more than being near the coast or walking on a sandy beach. There is something instinctively healing and restoring about the ocean. I am always collecting shells or sand dollars. Recently, I was lucky enough to spend some time on Nantucket. The scenery, shells, and colors inspired this Coastal Christmas design. In this post, I am collaborating with King of Christmas to share some of my favorite trees, garland and wreath which I decorated in a coastal theme.
Coastal Cottage Inspired Christmas
We have been using King of Christmas items for years, even before I started collaborating with them. I don’t collaborate with many companies because its important that they offer products I use and highly recommend. We have been happy with all of our purchases from this company.

Christmas Set
Five years ago, Mr SLH and I purchased a pre-lit Queen flocked tree from King of Christmas. Our previous Christmas tree from a big box store had issues with the lights and we decided to make the investment and buy a better quality tree. We still love our Queen flocked tree and use it every Christmas. We have had zero issues with the led lights working or with the setup in the 5 years we have used it.
A couple of years ago we decided to try a pre-lit King flocked tree from King of Christmas. Oh my goodness, it is beautiful. Very easy to set up and take down. In this post, I used the King flocked tree and shared how to make easy, natural, DIY Christmas ornaments. We love the quality of the LED lights, especially in the evening.
So, for this collaboration, we selected King of Christmas’s Yorkshire Fir collection – a four piece set with two small trees, garland and a wreath.
Of course, as previously mentioned, for Christmas in July, I decided to create a simple coastal cottage inspired Christmas.
Supplies for Coastal Cottage Inspired Christmas
Here are links to the supplies used for creating a Coastal Cottage Inspired Christmas. Many of the items used to adorn the wreath, garland and tree were purchased from a big box store. I have provided links to online sources where possible.
- King of Christmas Yorkshire Fir Collection
- Seashells – I used a hot glue gun to add twine to each shell
- Starfish
- White ribbon
- Tan ribbon
- Burlap ribbon
- Paper stars
Additionally, I added some handmade ornaments and DIY clay ornaments that I made years ago.

Wreath
To create the wreath, I simply tied starfish and seashells to the branches. Then, I added some burlap ribbon as a final touch. The wreath is my favorite item from the collection because it is easy to store away and the LED lights use batteries. This means no long and unsightly cord to plug in. The battery pack also gives you a lot of versatility in where to hang the wreath. (How cute would this look on a garden shed?)

The lights require 3 DD batteries. However, since the lights are LED, the batteries last for a long time. Additionally, the wreath comes with a 6 hour built-in timer for the lights! When the wreath is hanging, you can not see the battery pack since it in built into the wreath form. I love this feature.

Garland
The garland was also easy to assemble and includes warm LED lights. The faux garland needs a bit of “fluffing” – when you initially remove it from the box.

I was happy to see the garland came with an interchangeable option of either plugging into an outlet OR connecting to a battery pack. For our setup, I elected to use the battery pack. The battery pack was tucked away on the mantel, behind the faux greenery. As with the wreath, it includes a 6 hour timer.

To create a coastal cottage Christmas look, I simply added ribbon to the garland and then attached seashells. The clay stars were some ornaments I made years ago. I finished off the garland with some large paper stars.

Small Christmas Trees
Finally, the Yorkshire Fir Collection comes with two small trees in faux copper urns. As with the garland, you have the option of either plugging these trees into an outlet or swapping out the plug connection for a battery pack. These little trees would also look cute flanking a front door.

The copper style urns give the trees a subtle elegance, which I appreciated. To create a coastal cottage Christmas, I decorated the trees using the same items as I used for the garland. There are shells, ribbon, DIY clay ornaments I created years ago, added to each tree.

Unlike the garland and wreath, I opted to plug in the LED lights on these little trees.

The Yorkshire Fir Collection is the perfect solution for simple Christmas decor. Each item is well made, light weight, easy to set up and take down, and comes with the option for using batteries. If you are looking for a one and done Christmas collection, then I highly recommend it.
Conclusion
Some times with all the hubbub of the holidays, we need simplicity. Decor that is easy to setup and to take down. This coastal cottage inspired Christmas decor is very affordable, easy to create and keeps things simple. Thanks for stopping by the blog today! I hope you found some inspiration.
