You may have heard . . . or perhaps you haven’t heard. The Country Living Fair that was planned for August of 2020 in Nashville, TN has been rescheduled for June 2021. It was clearly a wise decision on their part.
With COVID 19 and social distancing not ending anytime soon, it is difficult to envision throngs of people spending a day at the Fair. It doesn’t sound like a safe idea, especially for those who are elderly or individuals with compromised immune systems. Having a Fair and not having many people show up is also not a great scenario.
Vendors plan for these Fairs months in advance and put a lot of hard work into preparing for these events. Speaking for myself, I dedicate a good 6 months to preparations. This includes figuring out a theme, deciding which pieces to bring, identifying a variety of sizes of furniture and a variety of prices. Then there is the packing, transporting, setting up and working at your booth over the course of 3 days. There are accommodations that need to be found in the evenings and at the end of the Fair the packing up and transporting the remaining inventory back home.
Now, don’t get me wrong, this is a lot of fun and it is something I absolutely adore. However, when everything is said and done, vendors are running a business. So, going to a Fair where there may not be many people just doesn’t make financial sense.
So, all of this is to say, that while I am sad the Fair has been postponed, there is no doubt that it was the best decision to make. As an added bonus, vendors now have an additional 6 months to prepare! Can you imagine how much amazing inventory is going to be brought to the Country Living Fair in 2021? I might need to go shopping . . .
