Handcrafted Society

Welcome to the Handcrafted Society! This is a group of talented bloggers who come together monthly to collectively craft creations using a shared medium or theme. This month’s theme was “rick rack and pom poms”. So, each blogger created a project that incorporated these items.

The projects by the Handcrafted Society are fun and inspiring because we see the varied perspectives and interpretations of the theme by each participant. These women are amazingly creative in making projects for each month’s theme. Towards the conclusion of this post, you’ll find images and links to the projects for each blogger. I hope you enjoy browsing through all the ideas these ladies have created. Simply click on the image or blog name to view their full post.

Back Story

Just between you and I, I love bunnies. Even the little cotton tails eating the flowers in my garden. It’s hard to get angry at an animal so cute and fluffy. Needless to say, Easter is a great excuse to bring out all things related to bunnies. I love to make little gift bags at Easter and give them to loved ones. These little bags can include small goodies like candy, cupcakes, chocolates, or small knick knacks. They don’t require any thing fancy, expensive or time consuming. This year, I had an idea how to adorn these little gift bags for Easter. Of course, it involves using a bunny.

Supplies

The supplies for this project are available at your local craft store or big box store such as Target or Walmart. Where possible, I have provided links to online sources. I found the fabric bunnies at my local dollar tree. I was able to find some similar fabric bunnies online and linked them below.

Step 1 – Prep the Bunnies

The bag of bunnies I purchased from the Dollar Tree came with little bows on them. So, the first thing I did was remove the bows. If the fabric bunnies you buy come as a garland, you will want to cut the bunnies out of the garland.

Step 2 – Apply Rick Rack

Using my scissors, I cut out pieces of rick rack that were the width of the bunnies necks. It’s easier to cut multiple pieces of rick rack at one time. So, if you have 6 bunnies, you want to cut 6 pieces of rick rack.

I placed the loose pieces of rick rack on the bunnies to ensure a good fit. Then, using a hot glue gun, I glued the rick rack into place.

Step 3 – Add Pom Poms

Just as you added the rick rack above, using your hot glue gun, add the pom pom to the bunnies.

I used little pom poms with sparkles in them for some added charm.

Step 4 – Add Clothes Pin

Now, flip your fabric bunny over. On the back, use the hot glue gun to attach the wooden clothes pin.

Voila! There you have it! Easter Bunny bag clips.
