Back Story
The holidays and baking go hand-in-hand. Right? Thanksgiving wouldn’t be the same without pies. Christmas wouldn’t be the same without cookies. It’s the time of year when bakers are busiest. In our family, my sister is the baker. She is known for her apple pie and can whip up a batch of cookies faster than anyone I know. When we were in highschool, she would make white peach sheet cake which tasted amazing. At the time, we lived in California, and had a white peach tree in our backyard. She also made a variety of cookies which my Mom took to work to sell for $2 per bag.
Even today, she still makes cupcakes for parties at her office. Every year she makes a variety of Christmas cookies, including sugar cookies, using real butter.
Her baking “education” came from reading numerous Martha Stewart cookbooks and recipes as well as watching Martha on tv. Of course, there were many hours practicing how to make the perfect pie crust or cookie dough or cake batter.
If you have a baker in your life, then no doubt, you know there is an assortment of tools they use, or could use, to make their job easier. I rounded up some of my favorite baking essentials, with help from my sister, to give you some gift ideas for the baker in your life.

Gift Ideas for the Baker in Your Life
We rounded up items that are fundamental to baking and can be used year in and year out.
Kitchen Aid Mixer in Pistachio

Hands down, this Kitchen Aid Mixer the most frequently used and requested item by bakers. The 5 quart capacity is generous when making large batches of cookies or if you need to make bread. I personally love the pistachio color but it does come in a wide variety of colors.
Le Creuset Batter Bowl

This Le Creuset batter bowl is a work horse. If you make pancake batter, crepes, cake batter, or waffles, this batter bowl is your best friend. The spout makes pouring the batter easy and splatter free
Marble Pastry Slab

When making a pie crust or rolling out cookie dough, a marble slab is a baking essential. Before rolling out any type of pastry dough, my sister puts her marble slab into the fridge for about 30 minutes. The marble surface helps to keep the temperature of the dough cool.
Marble Rolling Pin

In addition to a marble slab, a marble rolling pin is also key. There are two kinds commonly used. The first has wooden handles and comes with a wooden stand while the second in a marble pin with tapered ends.
Cookie Sheet and Cooling Rack

Of course, every baker needs cookie sheets but even more essential is a cooling rack. The cooling rack allows the air to circulate under the cookies so they cool at an even rate. This set includes both a cookie sheet and cooling rack.
Pastry Tools

These wood handle pastry tools are indispensable. Based on my experience, the offset spatula is used a lot for icing cakes and the crimped pastry wheel is used for sealing pies.
Silicone Spatulas

This set of 3 silicone spatulas gets rave reviews from bakers. The variation in sizes is particularly useful. The stainless steel handle ensures these are dishwasher safe.
SMEG Toaster

Although not directly related to baking, this little SMEG toaster is an important component of eating. After all, you want to be able to toast that homemade bread! The charming retro design adds character to any kitchen. As an added bonus, it comes is a number of colors.

These gift ideas are all so helpful, Anna! I’ve the stand mixer in white for years and it’s one of my most used appliances. Truly, I think it makes me a better baker! I love that your sister learned so much from Martha too. Even when she was teaching us how to make “fancy” things it never felt like it was out of reach or unattainable. Can’t wait to check out these links. That marble slab is almost too pretty to use! Hugs, CoCo
