Winter and Valentine’s Day

This is a great time of year to slow down and enjoy the solitude of the season.  It’s also a an opportunity to recover from the holiday hustle and bustle.  Right?  We are starting with a clean slate and with the cold weather outside, it’s a good opportunity to recharge our energy.  With that in mind, I like to have a simple Valentine’s Day.  It’s fun to celebrate without going over the top or rolling out the red carpet. Especially since I am still recovering from the Holiday season.

A homemade wreath is a great way to decorate your home for Valentine’s Day. It can be customized to your own style and tastes, and it can be a cherished keepsake for years to come. Whether you’re decorating your own door or crafting a heartfelt gift for someone special, a Valentine’s Day wreath is a delightful way to express your affection and creativity.

Easy Heart Wreath

This cute wreath could not be easier to make and can be done in less than 30 minutes!  Really!  This is a project that anyone can make. This heart shaped wreath can be used on your front door or you can use it as home decor.  It’s the perfect valentine’s day craft and is so much fun to create.  So with that, let’s get started

Making An Easy Heart Wreath

The first thing we need to do to make this DIY Valentine’s Day Wreath is gather our supplies.  Where possible, I have provided links to online resources.  However, these supplies can generally be found at any craft store, like Hobby Lobby or Michaels.  You can also find them at big box stores like Target, the Dollar Store, Dollar Tree or Walmart.

Supplies

Just a quick note, you want to ensure the grapevine wreath is in a heart shape.  Also, you want to ensure you purchase white flowers when you buy the Baby’s breath.  Sometimes these flowers are dyed other colors.

Assemble the Wreath

On a large work surface, take your bunches of white baby’s breath out the florist packaging and separate it into smaller bunches.  Use your scissors to cut the flowers into smaller bunches approximately 3 inches in length.  Gently tuck the white flowers into the grapevine wreath form.

Keep tucking in the flowers all the way around the wreath form up to the top of the heart.  If you have difficulty tucking the stems into your wreath form, you can also use a hot glue gun to secure them in place.  I spent about 20 minutes tucking the baby’s breath into the wreath form.

You can add as many or as few flowers as you like.   One of the benefits of using baby’s breath is that it dries in place so well.  So you can use this wreath next Valentines Day.

Hang Your Valentine’s Day Wreath

For the final step, once you have all the flowers tucked into the heart-shaped grapevine wreath, you can attach some ribbon and hang it up. I tied ribbon to the some of the vines in the back of the wreath.  However, you can use some wire cutters to trim some floral wire and attach it to the back of the wreath.

I used some pink ribbon that I had recently dyed since I had it on hand.  If you don’t have any ribbon, you can always use a fabric strip to hang your wreath. By way of example, I had an old pillow case that I tore into strips of fabric and use as ribbon.

Once your ribbon is attached, then you can hang the wreath on your front door, in a window, over a mirror, or on your porch.

Other Ideas for DIY Valentine’s Wreaths

If you don’t have a heart-shaped grapevine wreath, here are some other ideas.  You can use a foam heart-shaped wreath form and attach some artificial flowers using a hot glue gun.  Similarly, you could use a wire wreath form, wrap it with twine and attach faux flowers using a hot glue gun.

If you don’t want to use artificial flowers, you can make your own tissue paper flowers.  I have a full tutorial showing you how to make them.

Last but not least, you can also attach pom poms to a cardboard wreath form using a hot glue gun.

Use your imagination and creativity to make your own easy Valentine’s Day Wreath.
