Reflections on How to Embrace Spring

The seasons tend to fly by quickly. Before we know it, summer will be here and then fall.  With each season, I find that I try to intentionally embrace all the changes it brings.  If I don’t take the time to stop and appreciate all that is happening, I find time goes by and all the seasons blend together.

So, this spring, here are some things I plan to do to embrace and celebrate the season.

First, buy and plant flowers.  This is particularly true for seasonal bulbs and flowers.  So, buy those bunches of daffodils and tulips.  Plant those pansies and violets. The best part of planting flowers, is that it requires a trip to the nursery.  There is always inspiration to be found there!

Also, I try to take walks in the evening because it stays lighter outside longer.  When I am out and about at 7 pm, the sun is still out. The longer days seem to give me more energy and greater appreciation for the changes the sunlight brings.

Another way I try to celebrate spring is by purchasing berries and using them in my meals.  Strawberries in particular are more readily available this time of year.  However, blackberries and raspberries are also easier to find.

Finally, I love to switch out my sheets and bedding for something lighter and brighter.  I put away the heavy down comforter and switch to quilts and blankets.  The white flannel sheets are put away and the cotton sheets are put on the bed.

These are small and easy things to do but they really make it feel like a whole new season and new reason to celebrate life.  These changes don’t have to be costly or time consuming. and can definitely brighten your day.
