Some of my Favorite Fall Items for an Inviting Home
I am sharing some of my favorite fall items you can use in your home to create a warm and inviting environment.
If you are new to this blog: Welcome! My name is Anna and I share information on collecting antique/vintage items, refurbishing furniture, and making small crafts/projects. The purpose of this blog is to share how to use creativity and antiques to make your home beautiful. Back Story
With the arrival of September there is noticeable shift in the air. In the early morning and evening, there are cooler temperatures. Leaves on some trees have already started changing color. Yellow school buses are back on the roads in the mornings and afternoons. When heading out into the garden, I grab my vest to keep warm. During the next 8 weeks, there will be a noticeable drop in the temperature. As we transition to “nesting” season, I am sharing some of my favorite fall items to create a warm and inviting home.

Favorite Fall Items for an Inviting Home
Fall is full of changes. New routines for those returning to school. A change of clothing to accommodate chilly evenings. Even the leaves on the trees decide to change their colors. So, it’s only natural to change some things our homes to reflect the season. Here are some of my favorite fall items I use to create an inviting home.
Bedding
As with the arrival of summer, the first thing I change is my bedding. Instead of light weight blankets, I use a heavier comforter. This year, I am drawn to warm browns and checks. Most of the bedding I already have on hand. However, I did purchase these shams and a comforter for our guest bedroom.

I purchased this particular comforter from TJ Maxx but it has since sold out. However, I was able to find a similar quilt in the same price range.

The German grain sack pillow I have had for years and is something I bring out every year.
Candles
Another easy and cost effective way to transition to fall is by lighting a candle. (Or multiple candles) My favorite candles are made by the Antique Candle Company. It’s generally more cost effective to buy a variety pack of 6 candles. Right now, my favorite scent is Apple Pie. (This could change by next week)

Antique Candle Co has sales on their candle bundles too. So. it’s always worthwhile to checkout their website.

It’s also fun to “layer” different candle scents throughout your home. For example, the smells of Autumn Woods and Apple Pie.
Baskets
If you have been reading this blog for any length of time, you know I love baskets. Fall is the perfect season to display the warm natural wood tones found in baskets. You can fill them gourds, dried grasses, dried leaves, fresh apples and wheat.

The large Willow Picking Basket was a recent purchase. The smaller basket on the table is an antique I have had for years.

You can also use baskets to decorate your front porch or entryway. The gourds in this basket were given a beautiful gold marble coating. You can easily create the same effect by following this tutorial.
Scented Soaps and Lotions
Another way I love to bring fall into my home is by switching out the scented hand soaps and lotions. Mrs Meyers soaps are always popular and they come out with seasonal scents. This year, I am trying their “Mum” hand soap.

I would love to try their new hand soap scent “Fall Leaves”. This is an easy change you can make for less than $5.
In addition to hand soaps, switching out hand lotion scents is also an affordable way to bring fall indoor. There is a line of William Morris hand lotions I am going to try!
Dollar Store Decor
Yes, you read the heading correctly. Going to the dollar store is an affordable and fun way to stock up on fall decor. The key lies in thinking outside the box.

Do you see the metallic acorns, pumpkins, and gourds inside the cupboard? Those were all from the dollar store. I purchased a set of 12 of these metallic ceramic decor items for $16. The key to successfully finding items at the dollar store is to go early in the season. If you find something you like, don’t hesitate to purchase it.

Unfortunately, the last time I went to my local dollar store, only 1 little metallic painted acorn remained. All the others sold.
Summary
These are just some of my favorite fall items I use to create an inviting home. Thanks for stopping by the blog today. I hope you found some inspiration for bringing fall into your home!
