Make your own festive ornaments with cardboard rolls!   With a few simple supplies and a little creativity, you can create beautiful  ornaments.

You will needed 7-10 cardboard rolls. You can use the cardboard from paper towel rolls or from toilet paper rolls.

Other supplies include scissors, spray paint, glitter, a hot glue gun with glue sticks and mod podge glue.

Cut your cardboard rolls into equal 1/4 inch segments. The number of segments you need will depend on the size of star you want to make. For a basic five-pointed star, you will need five segments.

Spray paint the 1/4 inch segments. You can use any color of paint you desire.  I used gold for this project.

Be sure to paint the fronts, backs and insides of the cardboard segments.  Paint one side, let it dry for a few minutes then paint the other side.

Arrange the cardboard segments in a star shape. Overlap the segments slightly at the tips and glue them together.

Fold some cardboard segments in half and attach them to the ornament. Add the folded sections to the inside or outsides of the loops.

Sparkle up your stars: Brush on glue and sprinkle glitter, tap off excess. Use a craft paint brush to apply the glue.

Fully immersing the ornament into glitter works best. You can use any color of glitter you desire. For this project I used gold and copper glitter.

You can use fine glitter or chunky glitter. I used both types of glitter for this project. Fine glitter was used on the top ornament and chunky glitter was used on the bottom ornament.

Create a variety of stars in different styles and sizes! Here are some examples of what you can create.
